With the Night Mail By Rudyard Kipling, 1905

Was Rudyard Kipling merely writing futuristic fiction—or documenting a commonplace reality that was later rewritten? ✈️🌩️

Listen to the complete audiobook of Rudyard Kipling’s 1905 work, "With the Night Mail".

While modern critics label this a pioneering work of science fiction, the text itself tells a different story. Kipling doesn't present the highly mechanized world of the Aerial Board of Control as a distant, speculative wonder—he describes the routine overnight flight of Postal Packet 162 as an ordinary, established fact of everyday life.

As you listen to this hazardous journey across the Atlantic, ask yourself: Was this truly a fantasy of a future year 2000, or was Kipling simply reflecting a widespread technological reality of his own era that has since been scrubbed from our history?

Sit back, listen closely to the text, and decide for yourself.
